How BrandStills works
BrandStills is not a filter and not a stock-photo generator. It works from photographs of the thing you actually sell, and everything it does is aimed at one goal: the product in the finished image is your product, down to the label.
1. Shoot the product plainly
Put it on a table near a window. Take a straight-on photo of the front, one from a slight angle, and one of anything the first two miss: the lid, the back of the label, the texture of a soap bar. Clutter in the background is fine; the app is reading the product, not the room.
If your photos already live on a computer, open a desktop session from the app, type the short code on your desktop and drop in up to 40 photos at once. They arrive on the phone grouped into products.
2. The app reads what must not change
When you save a product, its photos go through a vision pass that records the things a generative model would otherwise invent: whether it is packaged, the silhouette and proportions, the finish, the text on the label and what language it is in, whether it is edible, liquid, worn, printed, or sold as a pair. Those become explicit locks in the prompt. This is why a jar comes back with your lid on it and your wording on the front.
3. Choose a look, three ways
- A scene. Studio setups (podiums, a lineup, colour blocks, dark backdrops), lifestyle rooms (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, shelf, café, desk), outdoors and seasonal scenes. Each one is written as a real photographic setup rather than a style word: lens, light direction, surface, props.
- An inspiration image. Any photo whose composition, lighting and mood you want. The app recreates the look with your product and is told not to copy text or logos from it.
- Your own words. Describe the shot. What you write takes precedence over the scene and over the app’s defaults.
4. Several products, one frame
Selling a range? Pick more than one product and choose a collection scene. The app names each product individually in the prompt, so every item keeps its own identity and you get a family shot rather than one item cloned three times.
5. Refine like a conversation
Results open as a thread. Ask for a warmer light, more space at the top for a headline, a different surface, the lid off. Each request is applied to the current image rather than generating from scratch, which is what stops the product drifting into a generic version of itself over successive edits. Any earlier image in the thread can be branched from.
6. Export and reuse
Save to the camera roll or share directly. Products stay in your library, so next season you pick the same product, choose a Christmas or summer scene, and shoot the whole range again in minutes.
What it costs
Installing the app gives you starter credits. Each finished image spends credits; failed renders do not. More credits are bought through the App Store or Google Play; see the FAQ for the details.
Questions about the process
How many photos of a product should I add?
Two or three is the sweet spot: a straight-on shot of the front, one at an angle, and one of anything easy to miss such as a lid or the back of the label. More angles improve fidelity; duplicates of the same angle do not.
Can I put several different products in one photo?
Yes. Pick multiple products and a collection scene such as stepped podiums, a lineup or a leaning stack, and each product is rendered as itself rather than as copies of one item.
What is an inspiration image?
It is a photo whose composition, lighting and mood you want to borrow, from any brand. You choose it instead of a scene, and the app recreates that look with your product while explicitly not copying any text or logos from it.
What happens when I ask for an edit?
The edit is applied to the image you are looking at, in a thread, so the product does not drift back toward a generic version of itself. You can branch off any earlier image in the thread.
